Year after year we have the same goals in mind. “I must eat and drink healthy, I must spend more quality time with family and friends, I must save more money.” Do they all manifest into reality? No, they don’t. The bottom line is “we give in to temptation”. Period! We all know the fairytale story of what happened to Snow White when she ate the red apple. What if there was a deep symbolic message behind this Snow White tale? But that’s a fairytale right? It’s not real. We are constantly tempted on a daily basis to feel good in the moment which is great but we have to ask ourselves is it aligned with our yearly goal? If not, then say “no”, otherwise you may regret it.
We are forever tempted on a daily basis with such great delicacies but are they selfish delicacies? It’s right there in front of us. It’s achievable to feel great. We can stretch out our hand and grab what we want to make our life more pleasurable. To feel good. But why is it that most of us have this inner disturbance that when we do we say to ourselves afterwards “I really need to or I shouldn’t have done that”. One of my goals for 2017 was to get more physically fit and how many times have I woken up in the early hours of the morning and have said to myself “nah, I’m not going to the gym today, it feels better to stay in bed but I’ll go tomorrow” but when tomorrow comes there is another excuse! Why? Because it’s easier to make this choice. How hard is it, seriously, to make smarter choices? The ones we know that would do great for our higher good. The ones we know we will feel pleasure when our higher goal is achieved. In our western world we are so privileged that we are able to make these choices that is of course if you have health.
One thing you really need to consider to fulfill your new year’s resolution is that you have to ask yourself “have I been making good choices”? In 2018, decide on making smarter choices. The choices where you don’t give in to feel good at the cost of your yearly goal but if you have already don’t give up on fulfilling your new year’s resolution as you don’t have to wait for the next 365 days or whatever how many days left in the year to make it a resolution. NOW is the time. Make your goals happen!
Now I must sprinkle confetti over you and blow glittering stars whilst I wish you the best on your journey of choices for this year to come and that your year is full of health and happiness with your loved ones.
With love,
Aleksandra Zaric
