HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF VALENTINE'S DAY

It’s that time of year again where we celebrate love on Valentine’s Day.  The classic gifts of a box of chocolates, a bouquet of red roses, sweet greeting cards and symbols of doves and cupids shooting an arrow into the heart. Valentine’s Day is about celebrating and expressing love. It doesn’t have to be all about red roses, chocolates and a romantic dinner night out. You can make it more special between you and your partner by doing something that’s different to what everyone else is doing on this day of love and make it more meaningful in how you celebrate this day.

The classic gifts on Valentine’s day where we express our love are mostly tailored around what women want. Your man on the other hand may prefer a practical gift idea such as a romantic night at home on a budget. You can express your love by understanding what your partner would appreciate the most in a gift. A personalized gift where you can express gratitude to your loved one can be as simple as a date night at home where you could write a thoughtful greeting card that will make your partner feel appreciated and prepare a candlelit dinner of one of his favorite meals. You can always buy the dessert and have a bath together sprinkled with aromatic bath salts with candles and even a bottle of wine. A perfect way of unwinding, relaxing and spending time with your loved one. Your partner may even prefer an expensive adrenaline heart pumping gift such as a hot air balloon ride for the two of you. Know what he likes and he will know how much you care by doing something that is tailored towards him – your guidance on deciding the perfect gift idea.

To me, Valentine’s Day is more about an experience that lovers share on this day rather than the exchange of traditional over-commercialised gifts. If you do buy a gift, buy something that he actually wants and if he does bring you bunch of red roses and a box of chocolates, then it’s even more a reason to celebrate Valentine’s Day and to share the experience by indulging together on the box of chocolates.

I hope you have a fabulous Valentine’s Day!

With Love,

One Thing You Really Need To Consider To Fulfill Your New Year’s Resolution

Year after year we have the same goals in mind. “I must eat and drink healthy, I must spend more quality time with family and friends, I must save more money.” Do they all manifest into reality? No, they don’t. The bottom line is “we give in to temptation”. Period! We all know the fairytale story of what happened to Snow White when she ate the red apple. What if there was a deep symbolic message behind this Snow White tale? But that’s a fairytale right? It’s not real. We are constantly tempted on a daily basis to feel good in the moment which is great but we have to ask ourselves is it aligned with our yearly goal? If not, then say “no”, otherwise you may regret it.

We are forever tempted on a daily basis with such great delicacies but are they selfish delicacies? It’s right there in front of us. It’s achievable to feel great. We can stretch out our hand and grab what we want to make our life more pleasurable. To feel good. But why is it that most of us have this inner disturbance that when we do we say to ourselves afterwards “I really need to or I shouldn’t have done that”. One of my goals for 2017 was to get more physically fit and how many times have I woken up in the early hours of the morning  and have said to myself “nah, I’m not going to the gym today, it feels better to stay in bed but I’ll go tomorrow” but when tomorrow comes there is another excuse! Why? Because it’s easier to make this choice. How hard is it, seriously, to make smarter choices? The ones we know that would do great for our higher good. The ones we know we will feel pleasure when our higher goal is achieved. In our western world we are so privileged that we are able to make these choices that is of course if you have health.

One thing you really need to consider to fulfill your new year’s resolution is that you have to ask yourself “have I been making good choices”?  In 2018, decide on making smarter choices. The choices where you don’t give in to feel good at the cost of your yearly goal but if you have already don’t give up on fulfilling your new year’s resolution as you don’t have to wait for the next 365 days or whatever how many days left in the year to make it a resolution. NOW is the time. Make your goals happen!

Now I must sprinkle confetti over you and blow glittering stars whilst I wish you the best on your journey of choices for this year to come and that your year is full of health and happiness with your loved ones.

The Real Meaning of Christmas

Year after year we celebrate Christmas. The majority of us share gifts with loved ones and the words “Merry Christmas” is rejoiced with a bottle of wine, turkey dinner and with family members amongst us. Christmas means different things to different people. To children, it’s about presents, Santa and spending time with family. It’s exciting to watch children open their gifts and it does bring me great joy watching my own children unravel their presents. There are many that do not celebrate Christmas as the majority do as they don’t have family amongst them for the celebration. It saddens me to think how many are unable to celebrate Christmas rejoicefully as they think of their loved ones that have crossed over into the afterlife and they find it difficult to celebrate Christmas like it used to be. For others, it is a financial reason, a work commitment or for whatever other reason their loved one could not be present on this important day of the year. To others, Christmas implies “party time!” as easy as it is said.

It is the birth of Jesus Christ, our savior that is the real meaning of Christmas. No one ever drinks up a toast and says “Happy Birthday Jesus”! Okay, we don’t need to say “Happy Birthday Jesus”, but we can acknowledge his presence. Many cannot for financial reasons celebrate Christmas with presents as in gifts but in spirit the PRESENCE can be felt. The one where we can feel gratitude and compassion at this time of the year. It doesn’t matter who is with us or without us but it is their presence that can be felt and the feeling of gratitude in our heart. As difficult as it may seem for some that either have bed full of bedbugs, unable to walk, no husband, wife, partner or whatever, we all have each other. To me, Christmas is a peaceful time of the year where we stop to reflect on caring about our loved ones, a time of remembering those who cared about us. I see it as a time when God’s gift of giving us life, that is his PRESENT of feeling his presence. During Christmas, you are loved, there is always someone with you in spirit.

Christmas is an important day of celebration and you can make it any celebration as you may seem fit. We all have our own reasons, but you can celebrate it any way you choose. Finding a reason to be grateful, a time to reflect on the gifts that life has given you. The gifts we give our children under the tree to me is more about the joy in my children’s expression. I see this all as a symbolic reason of celebration. A symbol of pausing for this particular day of the year and being grateful. It is a time of gathering and being happy in this particular moment of the year. It all seems magical and beautiful at this time of the year that a fairytale is almost real.

If God thought in limitless ways, so can you. You have eyes to perceive colour, you have your senses which you can perceive that you are alive and there are limitless reasons for you to be grateful that you were given life as a gift. That in itself is a reason to celebrate. So, what is the real meaning of Christmas? It is a great excuse to stop what you are doing and to get close with your family to celebrate. It doesn’t matter in what shape or form but in our hearts in the same place. A time of remembrance in our thoughts, feelings and actions. If they are not here in flesh, they are here with you in Spirit. It’s not about presents. It's about Presence.

The remembrance.

Aleksandra Zaric
